This mine has not been accessible to collectors for a few years and a considerable amount of work has been done to the property since it was last open to collecting, so it should be terrific collecting. A large turnout is appreciated since future trips might depend on a large attendance and safe collecting. Be at the gate for 9am. A liability waiver must be signed. Cost is $20 plus $3 to cross the property owners land. Up to 40lbs of material are free anything above that is 50 cents per pound. Proper safety equipment must be worn. | 13 | Don Lapham has arranged for OFTG members to visit the Medford Quarry in Westminster, MD, USA on Nov. 13, 2004. The quarry is in Wakefield Marble and has produced calcite crystals to nearly 6 inches in length in the past. It also produces colorful lavender marble and white marble with black "spiderweb" patterns that are suitable for carving or lawn ornamentation. Much of the calcite found is fluorescent red under ultraviolet light. The trip is limited to the first 12 people to sign up.
