25 Walker Club Annual Mineral Auction
Sunday 12 - 3:30? Waddington's Auctions, 111 Bathurst Street (at Adelaide), Toronto, ON.
Preview at noon with the auction to begin at 1 pm. This annual event is the main fund raising activity of the Walker Mineralogical Club. Members may submit items to be auctioned.
Features: 120 items including quality and unusual specimens. Free admission and everyone is welcome. Cash only for purchases. Refreshments will be available. The auction usually runs for 2 1/2 to 3 hours but absentee bids can be left with and bid by one of the executives if a participant must leave early.

This year’s auction will include a large micro-mineral collection. It consists of 3,996 properly mounted specimens, all in the old style of 1 x 1 inch micro box. There are many duplicates and the quality of specimen is average, but the collection is old and there are many “sleepers” in it. There are 469 different species and an experienced rare mineral collector has listed 44 of these (many with duplicates) as being particularly hard to obtain. For location collectors there are 126 specimens from Tsumeb (28 species), 63 from Palermo (17 species), and 41 from Franklin (15 species). There are a large number of specimens from central Africa, mostly the Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire), with 33 species, 83 from England (31 species), and 79 from Germany (36 species). The collection includes 2 diamond, 45 silver, and 31 gold specimens.

A complete catalogue is available on Excel or in Adobe (.pdf) format (Excel is best for sorting). If interested, contact Tony Steede at tsteede@sympatico.ca. This lot will be sold with no reserve.
