CCFMS ROCKS Email Discussion Group Discontinued

The CCFMS ROCKS Email Discussion Group has been discontinued. Postings to the group had severely declined in the past few years to the point where the free exchange of information was no longer being accomplished. Thanks go to all those that posted items over the last several years and to Blair Batty for initiating the list under the name of Ontario Rocks many years ago.

If you are still interested in an email discussion group on all things related to rock, fossil, mineral collecting, lapidary and geology in general, the Rockhounds@drizzle Mailing List is highly recommended. Please visit http://lists.drizzle.com/mailman/listinfo/rockhounds for information on how to subscribe.

Nominating Committee Formed

A Nominating Committee has been formed for the upcoming 2008 CCFMS elections to be held at the Annual General Meeting. The committee consists of CCFMS Secretary Bill Plavac, Walker Club Field Trip Director Doug Dingeldein and Kawartha Club President Bob Beckett. The goal of the committee is to compose a slate of candidates for the CCFMS Executive to the member clubs at least 60 days prior to the Annual General Meeting.

If you are interested in any of the positions on the CCFMS Executive please make an expression of interest to any member of the nominating committee. Positions on the CCFMS Executive include president, vice-president, treasurer, secretary, field trip director, communications director and other director-at-large directors.

Members of the Nominating Committee may be contacted at the following email addresses:
Bill Plavac whtdogmin @ rogers.com
Doug Dingeldein ddingeld @ sympatico.ca
Bob Beckett rbeckett @ numet.com

Please note, nominations for CCFMS Executive candidates may be accepted from the floor of the AGM. Anyone wishing to do this may be at a disadvantage since clubs voting by proxy may not know who the nominations from the floor are.

The CCFMS is looking to hold an AGM in late April but is presently without a venue. Member clubs will be contacted as soon as a venue and date have been confirmed.
